Readers pick Petersen as team MVP
Penguins fans who responded to a Times-Tribune Most Valuable Player poll obviously felt Toby Petersen had a lot to do with the team’s turnaround. The rookie center got 82 percent of the votes.
Drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the ninth round (244th overall) of the 1998 Entry Draft, Petersen led the team in scoring with 67 points (26 goals, 41 assists) in 73 games. He was named to the AHL All Rookie Team.
Other top vote-getters were center Milan Kraft, winger Dennis Bonvie, goalie Ron Parent and winger Billy Tibbetts.
