Jason A. Miller, Scranton, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital. His former wife is Linda King.

Born John Anthony Miller in Long Island City, N.Y., son of the late John and Mary Collins Miller, he was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, the University of Scranton, and the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. He was a writer, actor, director, poet and producer. In 1972, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his Tony award-winning play, "That Championship Season." The same year, he was nominated for an Academy Award as best supporting actor in "The Exorcist." He won and Emmy award for his role in "Maryland" on television. In the 1980s, he returned to Scranton, where he established the Pennsylvania Summer Theater Festival.

His companion is Dana Oxley.

Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Miller; three sons, Jason Patric, Jordan and Joshua Miller.

A memorial Mass will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in his family parish, St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St. Interment, private at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jason Miller Memorial Fund, c/o First Liberty Bank and Trust, Jermyn, 18433.
