Support Is Mounting For St. Pat's Parade

The International Masonry Institute and the Crossings at Tannersville have donated $2,500 to the St. Patrick's Day Parade Association of Lackawanna County, Inc., to become corporate sponsors of the 39th edition of the group's annual parade.

"The financial support for the parade has been building but we still have a way to go before reaching our goal of $25,000," Association President Bill King said.

This year's parade is scheduled to stepo off on March 11 at 11:30 p.m. following the traditional St. Patrick's Mass in St. Peter's Cathedral.

Mr. King announced the following have become $600 division sponsors: Local 489, International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers' Local 81, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; Boscov's; Royal Bottling Company,
Also Scranton Times-Tribune; PNC Bank; CMC Lifecare Systems. Fidelity Deposit & Discount Bank; Ground Round Restaurant; Lee Electric & Supply Co., and Highland Associates, Ltd.

Anyone wishing to sponsor the parade in any way should see Patrick Murphy, Dr. Tim Regan, Joe Gilhooley, Bob Osborne or Sean Hanlon or contact the association through its web page (stpatparade.com.) or by writing to Post Office Box 374, Scranton 18501. Applications to appear in the parade also can be obtained in the same manner.

Jim Coyle and Al O'Donnell announced students from the following schools will carry banners during the parade: Natvity, John Marshall, Robert Morris and West Scranton High School.

"We want to thank the students for volunteering their time to do a very important, job for the parade committee," Mr. King said.
