Scouting report: Louisville at Penguins


The Louisville Panthers conclude their weekend trip through Pennsylvania today with a visit to First Union Arena at Casey Plaza to face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Panthers played in Philadelphia Friday night and visited Hershey Saturday night.

Less than 100 single-seat tickets remain for the 5:05 p.m. contest. Coverage can be heard on Oldies 92.1 and 100.1 FM. The game is also being televised by Fox Sports Pittsburgh, which is available in the Scranton area on Adelphia Cable Channel 17.

This is the first of four meetings between the teams. The Penguins won the series last season, 3-1-0, including 2-0-0 at First Union Arena. PANTHER PURRS

Louisville, top affiliate of the Florida Panthers, is coached by Joe Paterson. . . . The Panthers (5-15-2-2) carried a three-game losing streak into Saturday night's game at Hershey. Their 14 points were second-fewest in the AHL. . . . Tonight is the final game of a month-long road trip for Louisville. Due to lack of availability of Rupp Arena, the Panthers have not played there since Oct. 31. They did have a "home" game Wednesday in Elmira, N.Y., against Rochester.

Entering Saturday, RW Paul Brousseau led Louisville with 24 points (9 goals-15 assists). C Eric Boguniecki had 23 points (13-10) and RW Dave Emma had 20 (6-14).

Ex-Penguin goalie Ryan Bach is 3-8-1 with a 2.62 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in 15 games for the Panthers. . . . Backup Sean Gauthier is 2-9-1 with a 4.06 GAA in 15 games. -- SCOTT WALSH
