Is there anything funnier than a room full
of red rubber noses?
Some kids in Friendship House's evening treatment pro gram are
currently getting a first-rate education in the art of clowning, courtesy of admissions
coordinator David Kirkwood.
Mr. Kirkwood, who in his free time moonlights as a clown named
"Happy Sac," trained the apprentice Bozos extensively in makeup application, proper clown
attire and popular clowning techniques, such as juggling and constructing animal bal loons.
Several of these "clown-in-training" sessions were held at
Friendship House's Frances Fuller campus, East Mountain, before the kids' recent visit to Abington
Manor Nursing Home, Clarks Summit. There, they performed a Valentine's Day skit written with
assistance from mental health technician Rich Everett.
Up next for the clowns — an appearance at the Friendship House
"Guild Gala 2003: Cirque du Soleil" on May 17 at the Everhart Museum. |
