The Wilkes Barre VA Medical Center, with 116 operating beds and a 138-bed
nursing home care unit, services veterans throughout northeastern and
central Pennsylvania and southern New York. Ambulatory care services are
provided in Wilkes-Barre, Allentown, Sayre, Williamsport, Tobyhanna and
Schuylkill County. The facility offers a hemodialysis unit, cardiopulmonary
rehabilitation program, outpatient post-traumatic stress disorder program,
mental health clinic, substance abuse treatment, hospice unit, short stay
procedure unit and visual impairment services. The center which has been
designated a diabetic center of excellence and enjoys training affiliations,
include Hahnemann School of Medicine, Philadelphia, and Community Medical
Center.
