| Tobyhanna Army Depot is the U.S. Army’s largest facility for the repair, overhaul and fabrication of communications and electronic systems, telephones and switchboards, airborne surveillance and navigational instruments, and other specialized systems and components are among the equipment manufactured and repaired at the depot. The depot is a Center of Technical Excellence for several major communication-electronic systems and is heavily involved in the design and development of these critically needed systems. Depot personnel also conduct year-round training for members of the Army Reserve and National Guard who travel from their home basis around the country to sharpen their military skills at Tobyhanna. The depot is part of the U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command, which in turn, is an element of the U.s. Army Material Command. With a current workforce of over 3, 000, the depot is one of the largest employers in the area and has been in continuous operation since 1953.
