| JC Penney Co. Inc., a national retailer, began in Kemmerer, Wyoming. in 1903. The purchase of General Merchandising in 1963 expanded the operation to include catalog. The Internet site, jcpenney.com, was launched in 1998. The JCPenney Catalog Customer Service Center, located at Montage Office Park, is the second largest of the 14 Customer Service Centers located throughout the U.S. Center associates receive calls from customers who wish to either place an order or ask about the status of an existing order.
